Audition Requirements

Please note that FRC produces shows on a volunteer, recreational basis, and does not financially compensate participants except for pre-approved show-related expenses.

Audition requirements:
— Please prepare a 3 to 5 minute solo of your choice to demonstrate technical ability as well as different tone and expression on your instrument.
Please also anticipate being asked to sight read an excerpt from the show.

Please note: ALL interested musicians are required to prepare an audition piece as per the requirements above. Despite being a selectable option when signing up for an audition, there is no "Interview" option offered for this audition cycle.
All auditioning musicians are expected to attend their audition in person to perform their prepared piece.

About the Show

In a Berlin nightclub, as the 1920s draw to a close, a garish Master of Ceremonies welcomes the audience and assures them they will forget all their troubles at the Cabaret. With the Emcee’s bawdy songs as wry commentary, Cabaret explores the dark, heady, and tumultuous life of Berlin’s natives and expatriates as Germany slowly yields to the emerging Third Reich. Cliff, a young American writer newly arrived in Berlin, is immediately taken by English singer Sally Bowles. Meanwhile, Fräulein Schneider, proprietor of Cliff and Sally’s boarding house, tentatively begins a romance with Herr Schultz, a mild-mannered fruit seller who happens to be Jewish.

Rehearsals

The initial kick-off orchestra rehearsal will be scheduled following the final musician selection. Rehearsals will occur once a week going forward, on either Friday evenings, Saturday evenings, or Sunday afternoons (schedule still TBD and will be largely built with the musician's availability in mind).

Later in the process, select few rehearsals could be scheduled with the cast and held on Monday/Wednesday evenings from 7-10 PM, with one Saturday afternoon rehearsal for Sitzprobe on April 11th.
The final rehearsal schedule will be determined by the Orchestra Director once all musical parts are assigned.

Rehearsals will be held primarily at our new production space, FRC Studios, located at 1-4619 6 Street NE.

PLEASE NOTE: For the week prior to opening (i.e. beginning Sunday May 10th), please expect a rehearsal or other activity on each day.
