Audition Location

Auditions are held at Parkdale Community Centre, 3512 5 Ave NW.

Audition Requirements

Members of Equity and ACTRA please note that as FRC produces shows on a volunteer, recreational basis, we will not pay any professional association fees, such as the fees stipulated by Equity's Amateur Guest Artist policy, under any circumstances whatsoever.

Please come prepared to perform:
- 90 seconds to 2 minutes of a golden age musical theatre song.
- a short storytelling assignment. For those that prefer the traditional route, this can be done through a monologue. However, you can alternatively choose to tell a short personal story. The goal of this portion is to get a sense of who you are as both a performer and as a storyteller.

Please note that the audition will also include a vocal range test, as well as a group dance call at the end of each block.

Please upload a backing track or be prepared to provide one in person. No acapella auditons accepted, and no pianist will be available.

***PLEASE NOTE: Thursday auditions will NOT be held at the same location as this page and any emails you receive state. They will be held at 1-4619 6 St NE***

About the Show

This crowd-pleasing, rollicking and heartwarming musical about family, commitment, show biz and drag remains one of musical theatre's all-time biggest hits! After 20 years of partnered bliss, Georges and Albin, two men partnered for better or worse, get a bit of both when Georges' son (fathered during a one-night fling) announces his impending marriage to the daughter of a bigoted, right-wing politician. Further complicating the situation is the "family business": Albin and Georges run a drag nightclub in St. Tropez, where Albin is the star performer, "Zaza." Georges reluctantly agrees to masquerade as "normal" when he meets the family of the bride-to-be. But Albin has other plans, with hilarious results.

Rehearsals

Rehearsals will be held on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 7-10 PM and Saturdays from 1-5 PM starting on Saturday September 21st. Location of rehearsals will be confirmed at a later date.

PLEASE NOTE: For the week prior to opening (i.e. beginning Sunday January 5th), please expect a rehearsal or other activity on each day.

Run Dates

January 10th - 25th 2025, Victor Mitchell Theatre - Pumphouse Theatres
